This lecture, in four parts, was presented at the U.S. Naval Academy by Dr. Clyde Cowan in April 1974. Most of the tehcnical content is suitable for advanced students in physics or engineering, but Dr. Cowan paints the fascinating history of the search to detect the "Ghost Particle" and its eventual confirmation at the Savannah River Plant in 1956. The presentation was restored in cooperation of the SRS Heritage Foundation, ANS-SR, and CNTA.
