Jeff Baker served as a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) federal executive for over 28 years in corporate, mission, and field operations leadership and management positions focused on stewardship of DOE's national laboratories.
Mr. Baker joined DOE's Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste Management in 1986 and served as the Southeast Regional Manager responsible for the assessment of sites suitable for the geologic disposal of high-level nuclear waste. He joined DOE's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) Area Office in 1987 as site engineer. He served as Director of Laboratory Operations responsible for oversight of all DOE mission and contract responsibilities at NREL, and as Source Evaluation Board Chairperson for the 2008 management contract competition for NREL.
Mr. Baker was awarded the Partnership for Public Service's 2010 Service to America Medal in Science and Environment for his vision and leadership on the Research Support Facility. He also received Engineering News-Record's 2011 National Award of Excellence for vision, leadership and innovation in project management for developing a business approach to design and construct affordable, highly energy efficient and net-zero energy buildings.
Mr. Baker joined Stoller Newport News Nuclear (SN3) as Assistant Vice President in 2014. He is responsible for SN3's DOE National Laboratory business line. He earned a B.S. in Biology from Augustana College, an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Iowa, and an M.B.A. from the University of Colorado.
