2009 Fred C. Davison Distinguished Scientist Award

The CNTA is pleased to announce the winner of the 2009 Fred C. Davison Distinguished Scientist Award is Dr. Alfred J. Garrett, leading scientist, researcher, and manager at the Savannah River Site for 30 years. He first joined Savannah River Laboratory in July 1979. Over the course of his career at the site, Dr. Garrett has provided sound technological solutions to a wide array of problems, ranging from reactor safety and emergency response to remote sensing and nonproliferation. He is currently a Consulting National Security Analyst (the highest technical position within the laboratory) with the Savannah River National Laboratory Nonproliferation Technology Section.

Dr. Garrett is a nationally recognized technical and scientific expert in remote sensing, with a focus on developing and applying models for data exploitation in relation to nonproliferation applications.

Dr. Garrett was honored at the CNTA's annual Edward Teller Lecture/Banquet on November 12.
