Dr. Susan A. Winsor assumed the role of President at Aiken Technical College on September 1, 1999. She previously served as Associate Executive Director for Academic Affairs and Technology for the South Carolina Technical System and Vice President for Academic Affair at Spartanburg Community College. Dr. Winsor holds a master of public health degree from the University of North Carolina and a Ph.D. in educational administration from the University of South Carolina. She is involved in a multitude of community and professional activities including Rotary, the Lower Savannah Work Force Development Board, SCANA Advisory Board, Regional Education Center Advisory Board, is a member and past chair of the SRS Community Reuse Organization (SRSCRO), and is past chair of the Greater Aiken Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Winsor is the current Chair of the Nuclear Workforce Taskforce of the SRS Community Reuse Organization (SRSCRO). She also serves on the Executive Board of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. She has presented at numerous conferences on a variety of topics including the development of the nuclear workforce.
Dr. Winsor has also served on a Mock Board for nuclear utility training accreditation. Dr. Winsor is the 2004 recipient of the Martha Kime Piper award, in recognition of her record of advancing and supporting women in higher education in South Carolina. She also received the 2007 Greater Aiken Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year Award, and the Knowledge Economist Award from the South Carolina Research Authority in 2010. In January 2013, Dr. Winsor was awarded the Energy Leadership Award from the Charlotte Business Journal.
