Sarah Dickerson has served as the Director of Former Soviet Union (FSU) and Asian Threat Reduction for NNSA's Global Threat Reduction Initiative (GTRI) since 2012. In this capacity, she is responsible for managing GTRI's global efforts to remove excess highly enriched uranium (HEU) and plutonium so it cannot fall into the hands of terrorists. Ms. Dickerson is also responsible for managing all radiological security efforts in the FSU and Asian region.
Prior to this assignment, Ms. Dickerson served as the Deputy Director for the Office of FSU and Asian Threat Reduction for 3 years and as the Southeast Asian country officer for GTRI for 2 years. Prior to her employment at NNSA, Ms. Dickerson worked for Sandia National Laboratories for 13 years as a physical protection expert, project manager, and contracting officer.
Ms. Dickerson has a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and a Masters of Business Administration degree with a concentration in operations research from The University of New Mexico.
